Dear friends of the BGLTSA,
We would like to thank candidates Andrea Flores ‘10/Kia McLeod ‘10 and Benjamin Schwartz ‘10/Alneada Biggers ‘10 for their timely, complete, and insightful responses to our questionnaire. As the only two tickets to respond, they have demonstrated high dedication to this campaign. Overall, both tickets expressed sensitivity to LGBT issues on campus and a desire to make the UC a partner for equality. The BGLTSA has enjoyed an amiable working relationship with candidates from both tickets and looks forward to continuing progress for LGBT students and our allies for equality.
Based on their responses to a questionnaire sent last week asking for their opinions and plans surrounding issues of interest to the LGBT community at Harvard College, the BGLTSA Executive Board has voted to officially endorse Andrea Flores ‘10 and Kia McLeod ‘10.
The Flores-McLeod ticket particularly impressed the executive board with:
- Concrete short-term and long-terms steps to improve housing for transgender and gender non-conforming students
- Explicit commitment to integrating education on LGBT issues into freshman orientation
- Longer-range grants for student groups
- Assignment of a liaison representative for the BGLTSA on the UC
We encourage everyone to vote – the polls are open from Friday, December 12 at noon to Monday, December 15 at noon.
